It’s week thirty already?! Wow, I feel like I say this every week, but time really is flying. If we only had those hourglasses Hermione got a hold of… Time turners!! (That’s my image, if you couldn’t tell.) Well anyway this week was a bit of a rush for me, especially with the homework. I got stuck on questions and ended up taking a lot of time… which is why I thought of a Time Turner. By the way, has anyone heard of the Grandfather Paradox? I promise, this connects to math. Homework->Rushing->Need for more time!!->Time Turner->Time traveling->Science Fiction->Science->MATH!
The Grandfather Paradox goes something like this: Say a man can travel through time. He travels back decades and kills his grandfather. But this cannot happen! If a man kills his grandfather, then his father/mother would never have been born – or he would have never been born. If a man was never born, then he could not possibly kill someone, especially his grandfather. Thus the paradox emerged – and well, obviously J.K. Rowling tries to detour around this conundrum that has stumped scientists for ages (ever since the idea of time traveling even existed), as she has Hermione warn Harry and Ron that they can never meddle with the flow of past time, since it can wreak havoc, and wizards have killed their past selves before (I wonder how that went down…)
I’m starting with this because I’m writing as the words pour from my fingertips… and I just can’t remember what happened that was interesting this week. I seem to have gotten short term memory loss – because I forget just about everything recent nowadays. Ask me what we did first class at lunch and I’ll have forgotten. O.o Wow, already off topic from what I said I would do. Soo… going back to the math.
The proofs really frustrated me this week. They’ve gotten more creative and perceptive and … ahh really, I’ve had to rethink through the proof problems several times while doing the homework. Spanning trees were pretty simple (well the concept is, at any rate) – but one has to be careful when finding the minimum spanning tree. The maze took me quite some time (seriously, my calculator kept giving me the same numbers when I put it on random integer!!! So I just made the range bigger.. hopefully that helped. And I still think some numbers in the range never showed up in the weighted graph (aww I wanted to put a “raised eyebrow” icon but there isn’t any… someone should seriously create a smiley like that. I would so use it ^^) But really, this is a chapter that I fear bodes ill if more proofs are to come (wait, I worded that really weirdly.. ignore that.). The homework problems… well, I got stuck mainly on the proofs, which made up like 85, 90% of the work anyway. I ended up going back to the textbook more than once.
Well going on to talk about other things… Ashi and I were talking at school about our math class, when suddenly a totally random topic emerged from our conversation – what would it be like if the six of us (not Mrs. Krummel too, because then the situation would also be much more different) were the last people on Earth? Now, personally I was kind of like WOoah, that would be really weird.. and awkward? I kind of imagined it like this: Allen and Jacob would go on about their love of Skittles (and now their obvious lack of this candy foreverrrr) and talk amongst themselves. Alicia, Ashi, and I would initially start laughing and cracking up (with, not at) Duncan… but then we would start singing randomly and then mourning the lack of Kpop forevverrr (haha, notice a trend?) Then Ashi and Duncan would go off and talk about… stuff? This whole scenario, by the way, was talked through like a convo with both of us.. so don’t get mad if I mentioned this whole thing. To which Alicia will bring up “married couple”, we will start cracking up, and… Ashi and Duncan will start spamming our posts and complaining in class? I guess so XD
On another note… a lot of people’s birthdays are in April.. it’s kind of weird. Buuuttt…. HAPPY [BELATED] BIRTHDAY, ALICIA!!!! <3 SARANGHAE CHINGU! lylas
Woohoo! (Ha ha.. my birthday’s like a month away >.>) Oh… does anyone else have a birthday in May? ‘Cause that’s cool – May is the most awesomest month :] Well in my book anyway, haha. Congrats to Ashi and Duncan for their epic effort at the Shakespeare Festival!! Duncan, hope you feel better! You know, that’s the second time you’ve blogged about a bad injury. Haha, the rest of us? I guess we just don’t live as dangerous lives as you do
Ashi, I’ll say this again but high heels are no joke.
Not that I’ve really worn them… just aren’t my thing, I guess. Aaand.. one last congrat before I go (and this one IS kinda old, and I SHOULD have posted this last week, but whatever. yay!). Alicia, Ashi, Duncan, and I were honorees at the JHU CTY Grand Ceremony (lots of acronyms hehe)! Congrats y’all, even though half of us didn’t attend – because the cup is always half full, you know?
Leaving with some quotes -
